ONE MUDU

Once upon a time, a couple of months ago, 
we were busy cooking palm oil jollof rice because of 
the price of tomato in the market…

Today, we are looking for the same rice 
just to pour the very same palm oil on it.

Once upon a time, a couple of years ago, 
we used to say “I have one mudu of rice,
let me buy the 'pheri-pheri' to prepare one small concotion rice, 
that will take me till tomorrow morning,…

 

Today there is no such thing as ‘pheri-pheri’ in the preparetion of rice,
reason being;

Price of rice (1 mudu) = #650

Price of oil (1 bottle) = #500

Price of fish (small one o) = #350

Price of crayfish (half mudu) = #500

Some shops will tell you

Price of maggi (Royco one cube) = #10 x 4 = #40

Please my good people, where is the ‘pheri-pheri’ we once so cherished?

God have mercy on us, who knows maybe come next year, 
we will be preparing oil with rice instead of rice with oil.

Just keep the faith, like our living legend 2 Baba always say, 
“e go beta”, keep the candles hidden, do  not burn them just yet,
