NIGHTINGALE

Drooling eyes glued to the podium
Unfortunate towels lick sticky faces
Bodies press against bodies
Oxygen abandons the theatre
Loud silence slice through the crowd

Tap! Tap!! Tap!!!
Like a phoenix she emerge
Head held high
Pardoned in fabric
Her presence a soothing sigh
The hungry pack at the mercy of her grace

But her eyes burdened
With untold stories
Mowed through the crowd
Her voice sang
But her heart screamed
Thrust with audience
She longed for company

Crying unseen tears
Her eyes sparkled
The crowd lost in ecstasy
 Our eyes traded stories
She descended the stage
Head bowed in oblivion
Oh, lonely heart in a crowd.
